Any guesses. was created by Beaver
Hi guys, looking for opinions on the make of truck in the photo.
The loco is a Davenport.
(My guess was a 1950s Leyland)

Hi Team,
Now that's interesting, The crane I, awonderfull bit of gear, a a young bloke I remember seeing them McBeths cranes along Windsor Rd going to jobs, they must have been the biggest units around at the time, thanks for the pictures.
The days when I would be on a bus going to Parramatta station to catch the 06:30 steam train to Lidcombe, as an Apprentice. Now they were the good old days.
Charlie

I am not doing any homework. IIRC a Davenport went from Penrith gravel siding to either NSWRTM or Parramatta Park.
Now for our photo supplier to say something about the loco and the location, and the reason for the trucking.

The loco is a 2 ft gauge unit, ex Kiama blue metal quarry.
The photo is taken at the old Steam Tram Museum in Parramatta Park. It was being loaded for transport to the Goulburn Waterworks Museum, where it was on display (perhaps operational) for a number of years. It is now at the Illawarra Train Park, Albion Park.
The Emu Plains quarry railway was standard gauge, and operated a similar looking Vulcan loco which may be at Thirlmere.
