Thanks Swisho!
If you do the coast From Sydney to Geelong
then Geelong to Mt Gambier on the coast
Then up the Coorong to Adelaide..
then Adelaide to The Gutta
i think thats the official \ unofficial 'Princes' route

If my memory is correct it doesn't start in "Sydney" as such but Chippendale??? I think is/was the area, I used to go there to get to Sydney Haulage Terminal, late 60's

I reckon you are right on the money there BK.

Info source: Wikipedia
It starts at the junction of Broadway (Great Western Highway) and City Road (Princes Highway) in the Sydney suburb of Chippendale[citation needed], and runs through Sydney's southern suburbs, to the suburb of Waterfall via Kogarah, Sutherland and Engadine.

According to my street directory it isn't called Princes Hwy until St Peters. Between Broadway and Newtown, City Rd and King St are part of MR58 which continues along Enmore Rd; King St becomes MR66 from Newtown south.

Don't know what it is now but I'd turn right after a big church and there was a university in there on the right hand side somewhere, that road would take me down through Newtown, (good chinese cafe there then) ::) and the Haulage terminal was alongside the airport.
