I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!
It's almost certainly by one of the major USA car manufacturers (Ford, General Motors, Studebaker, etc) but a lesser known variation or we would all recognise it. Maybe, as Lang suggested, (Ford) Mercury, That might be the Mercury Winged Messenger hood ornament.

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

The conventional wisdom is that Nash did indeed build pickups after World War II, but only a handful, and only for company use.
