Been searching high and low but can't find anything on it on the net.
Can someone tell me what the tappet settings should be on an inter 281 engine.

I have a photocopied sheet somewhere with the info on it but haven't seen it in 5 years. I could spend another year looking and still not find it. Probably filed under F.

Cheers. Cobba.

Cobba,

Not sure about 281. I have info on the AGD-282.

My book indicates that the clearences are set hot. The intake is .024"-.026". The Exhaust is the same.

Interesting to note that these clearences are the same for the AGD-240, 264 and 282.

So probably if not the same very close to your engine.

Thanks guys.
Matches what was in my memory banks from years ago although hot or cold I can't remember.

Seems like a lot of clearance on a hot engine but if thats what the book says then it must be right.

My 69 Bonneville only ran .004 and .006 cold. Lot of difference between a bike engine and a truck.

Cheers.

Thanks fella's.
Amazing how much a bit of extra clearance makes to the sound of an engine.

There were a couple that were too wide by about .005" and I didn't think it was too bad till I got to #6 inlet and found it was at .040". That extra .015 made it clatter it's head off.

Cheers. Cobba.
