Hi all
I have been hearing from some 4x4 sites that this old bus has been dumped into a large hole? is this true?

I thought it was a Leyland or something similar

I hope thats not the case.
We always pulled up there on the way to the Strzelecki track from Cameron Corner.
Its a bit of an icon.
A few rears ago we were stuck at Fort Grey with rain ,got to Cameron Cnr & had to wait there for 5 days
till the road opened .
No sooner got goin then another big storm & got as far as the bus , then had to find some high
ground to park the van.
There for 3 days till we could get goin agin.
Headen out towards Merty Merty the track is lower than the surrounding land by about 2 feet & the
chicken track was impassable so we plowed on, K upon K of slush but the old troopy did the job.
On the Strzelecki we were stopped agin with 2 road trains sittin it out on the road till they could get
goin again.
We were headen south to Arkaroola & was goin to go via Mt Hopeless but the track there looked too wet
so ended goin via Leigh Creek.
Heard later that some one tried that track a day after we went through & got stuck for 5 days,
no food or water with them & were accidently spotted by the flyin doc plane, who radioed in
& a search party was sent out to get them.
They were on their last legs when picked up, very lucky people,
We always have at least 2 weeks food & water when we are out back , you just never know.

I think it is a 1937 AEC trolleybus with Lawton bodywork. There is a similar vehicle in the tram museum at St Kilda.

I know this goes against every opinion even the posts from Bollards
But......
From what i recalled it looked as though it had an engine up front.
So where was the elec motor that drove those things situated?.

I did hear that one had been converted to a diesel for further service, but I have never seen it.

Another point of interest was............./
Bracketry on the chassis rails under the side skirt,
that suggested some thing resembling a fuel tank could have been there.
