The windscreen gives it away as a trolleybus; diesel buses of that style were half cabs. AFAIK the first rear-engine double-deck bus was the Atlantean type, in Sydney, with a distinctive 'bustle' boot. I don't know where Bollards is: another consideration is Sydney trolleybus.
All of the Adelaide ones which I knew had twin rear axles.
I am not finding a full set of photos fast:

< tdu.to/21503.msg?sid=163855&p=4> ;
I think that the upper in the third link is the right one.

The brackets may have been housing batteries.

If someone drove a Trolley Bus from Adelaide to Bollards Lagoon they would have needed a very long extension cord!

Why would you tow or carry it all the way from Adelaide?

Rod,
Out of curiousity sake, where would the elec motor have been installed ?
Was there a tailshaft goin to the rear diff same as a diesel set up ?
Ive never seen an electric bizzo.
So wouldnt have a clue about that.

All you 4x4 guys must have seen the double decker at the old Betoota pub near Birdsville. Wasn't there a few months ago after being a landmark for 40 years.

Story goes a smart businessman from Sydney saw an opening for the Birdsville races. Fitted out a bus with (very) small rooms, collected a female crew and headed off to relieve the drunks of their dough. Got as far as Betoota, broke down and that was it. The girls hitched a ride to Birdsville and made a fortune free-lancing.

Don't know if it is true but I have been told the story so many times and it is so good, it should be.

What happened to the bus?

I can't believe people go all that way carrying spray cans to deface things. I must be getting old! :)

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!
