I have been in boxes without truck photos recently (my 1969 WA month), and have been posting historic buses here. They all go to the open-access forum Australian Transport Discussion Board, so here are the links to date. I can then delete my earlier posts, and remove the photos from my offlist storage to free up space for photos which don't appear on open access elsewhere.

741130Sa Pinnaroo (SA). Australian Railway Historical Society ran a one-day tour to Peebinga & Pinnaroo using two railmotors splitting, with local buses connecting cross country. The Bedford had a kangaroo emblem, but I don't know the operator. The other is a Toyota Coaster or similar, normally on a school run.

Mt Isa (Qld) Pioneer depot. Ansett Pioneer GM Austral Denning Tourmaster bus. Thurs.2.9.82. (Roderick Smith) My notes are unclear. This could be the one on which I arrived from Katherine via Three Ways (through, or changing?), or it could be the arrival from Townsville.
I have Tourmasters as Detroit Diesel, which makes them GM, and a derivative of the prewar Winton engines.

Correctly, it is just an Austral Tourmaster. Austral and Denning did later both come under the same (JRA) ownership, but did not share model names.

770717Su Mt Buffalo Chalet (Vic.). VR Ford Mees MZS728, fleet 388. R Smith.
This one must have been newer than 1965, and had already been joined by a GM Denning. I had the Mees from Wangaratta on Friday night, then the Denning to Wangaratta on Sunday. In this view, the Mees is shuttling skiers to the slopes.

This is a 1953 Guy Arab a few beer drinking mates and myself purchased from the MTT in 1973
Just after we picked her up with a fresh coat of City Clipper Yellow paint after a maiden very slow ride to Northam
A couple of years later in 1975 when we had the 800 can freezer fridge in the back
As she is now somewhere in the Eastern States
As she was in her days on the streets of Perth

I first went to Perth in 1971. I was stunned to see dozens of these old Guys (and a few similar AECs and Leylands) still in regular service.

The Guy's were underpowered and horrible to drive - The Wilson preselect had a mind of its own sometimes and were known for destroying the input shaft bearing when the oil pump failed. Good for 5mph in 1st, 10mph in 2nd, 15mph in 3rd and a whopping 32mph in 4th
