This is a crop from my family album scanning.
Eager kids watching contractors pouring concrete for a mower strip in on Tues.14.12.65. My father was a teacher at the school. I guess that the rear truck is a Bedford J; the owner seems to be Victor, and the base seems to be Kew (Melbourne, Vic.). I have no idea about the concrete truck.

770109Su Bombay (India) Santa Cruz. Indian Airlines HS748 VT-DXM with assorted trucks & trolleys. R Smith.

Recaptioned to take in the prompt responses.
Left rear: Leyland Ashkok.
Van: Mercedes Benz.
Far right (the tanker), probably another Leyland Ashkok.

Thanks all; I have edited the original. This was scanned from a print of a slide; I would have to scan the slide to pick up the Mercedes logo. Any idea of year/model for it?

Tata Motors (which was TELCO those days) collaborated with Daimler-Benz to manufacture trucks in
India, and the first truck (shown in the pic) was rolled out within 6 months. The deal was for 15 years
during which Tata could use Benz engine and had to put the Benz logo in front grill. It was popularly

Roderick, I spent the best part of 2 months in India back in 1997.
It was like stepping back in time to the late '60s Early '70s.
I'll have to dig out My old photos, & scan some for you..

Thanks. Since gaining independence (1947), India maintained a policy of self sufficiency. Local industries would produce world designs under licence. This thread mentions the Leyland Ashkok and Tata Mercedes Benz. The aircraft is a Hindustan Hawker Siddeley 748. In another thread, I should have photos up of the ubiquitious Hindustan Ambassador taxi: a Morris Oxford, built over 1958-2014. The railway was building Alco locos. I don't know if India is still making 1950s UK motorbikes, but it certainly the source of spare parts for world owners of the types.
I suspect that the third photo (dated 1965) shows the model in my photo:
