The 3rd Hunter Valley Vintage Truck Muster
Hey Andy, I know you like serendipity stuff. I made the effort to bring my triplet down to meet her sister again (the yellow and green mklll AEC tippers were built as a batch of 3) and wow - met the bloke who unpacked them from crates back in 1950 and knew their history until retired 40 years later. They (all 3) apparently started on interstate with 24' trays and sleeper cabs until converted to tippers. The missing triplet remained as a tray and was little used but he couldn't say what happened to it.
Awesome, Steve. I've had a bit of a ramble about it on the blog. I started reading your post and thought "don't tell me he's found No. 3" but alas ... almost as good! LOL. Sounds like the two in the pic had an interesting life before conversion to tippers. Did the old fella have any pics?

Any-one know any thing about the Leyland?gidday boys, these photies were taken by my wife last hunter valley muster, should get you in the mood
Be it firearms or V8 engines, the question is not "why should you have them?"
, but "who are you to demand that I justify them?"

The Boxer is still in service with Smiths who do beer deliveries in the Newcastle region. The other red trucks in the same livery are all ex-Smiths.
It's a Reiver not a Boxer, it's still owned by Smith's Transport but it now only a spare truck, used more for HVCCVC stuff than anything else.
Their 1419 Mercedes was there in the line up, see the photo on Andy's blog and their other truck was the 25 yr old Isuzu we used for a stage for the band.
The Scammell, AEC and Albion are all owned by HVCCVC members. The Smith family are excellent supporters of the HVCCVC.

Still need a bumper bar and the vacuum brake booster.
The Inter on the Commer was a 29 and bought in exactly that condition but I better let the owner jump in here and explain more.
My scrappy bit of video of the event is up at
Feel free to share it around if it's worth it.

Trev, I spoke to Internutz who owns it and he said it's a SS124 model. I think it's powered by a knocker engine going on the oil it left on the back of my truck
Some play hard to get

SS124 now thats a new one never heard of one before, is it fitted with a 4 cylinder Lycoming or a 4 cylinder Waukesha, does it have a 2 speed rear end.
Also anymore pictures of it.
Chassis number is on the front L/hand chassis rail between the 2nd & 3rd rivet.

I had a good look over it with Internutz.
1929 on the engine plate and it's a Waukesha engine.
2 speed diff and cast wheels but I feel a bit lighter in the springing than Jessie. Says it's 25cwt on the plate on the dash so Jessie would be a 30cwt I think.
Apparently it's all running and he bought it just like it is.
