Forgot to mention when doing the leak test to put the vehicle in gear because the air pressure may well push the piston down.

What about if alloy timing cover corroded inside? May be damn side easier to remove a harmonic balancer and a few belts than rip the head off. Just something that was suggested. Apparently it is not uncommon.

Not sure if you're running LPG or not but if you are check that the converter (gas) has not corroded out as this will allow water into the engine also. Cheers Tim :S

Hello Dave,
We have had this happen in our '67 F700, first time the leaky cylinder was bored and sleeved.
Looking around have found a discarded block and a complete motor so that makes three times but can't say where the water got in for two of them.
For the last 20 years the truck has been used for one month a year, chemi weld gave a couple of years more use before fitting the current motor.
