CommerKnocker,

Praga V3S, ex Czech army. Sort of the Czech equivalent of the Aussi International 6X6 only lighter (more the size of a WWII GMC deuce and a half). Portal axles, air cooled straight six Tatra diesel engine, 7.4L 112 hp. Loads of them for a spit & a song an hour away from where I live (but in another country). Offroad ability pretty good but not as good as the Tatras, but it was cheaper to produce. There was also a similar looking civvy street 4X2 5 Tonner - pics may follow later...

Cheers,

T

PS: Yup, the bonnet is like that on all of them :)

Some pics.

First is a restored example as per CZ army original, second is still being used as areserve fire fighting truck. Then an inside view - a bit like a Blitz Buggy with the engine protruding into the cab. Pics are from here:

....and that's the 4X2 version:

In case you ask, the cut-outs at the back of the doors are because the cab was an adapted Tatra T805 which was a COE design - that's where the wings were on the T805s (which is what the two 4X4 in the pic are):

The S5Ts are also still to be had for reasonable prices once you cross the border to the Czech or the Slovak Republics... Simple mechanicals mean some are still in use (particularly out in the sticks).
