New Photobucket Charges

Hi,

If you can wait a week or two I can investigate what options are around now and maybe people with the collections of photos might want to be able to organise their photos rather than just attaching them to each post.

I have dribbled that much waffle over the years and shared heaps of photos there is no way I could ever go back now and add the photos

Im just wondering how the Swish mans gunna do it with over 10,000 posts, he's gunna get RSI in his clickty click finger :lol: :lol:

G,day Gryphon, I believe the admins over at the GMH-TORANA forum are working on a "backdoor" approach where they can still access the pics from photobucket without the fee being paid. Scamming the scammers if you will. I'll let you know how it goes.

Ok , may have found a solution , in another place to share photos from .
Seems Google started storing my images a couple of years ago , and i knew nothing about it ..But these photos can be shared to forums. Only just found out about this,so still trying to understand it's workings .

Nope , looks like i am not smart enough tomake it work here . It worked on another two forums , but can't get the link to work here for some reason .

I was using flickr, until direct posting to the forum became available, and flickr became more cumbersome. I do resize my photos before placing to the forum: 640 or 800 wide, according to the height. Hence, I shouldn't be going over 300 kB per photo. Flickr somehow lost many of mine, showing in HCVC as 'deleted/unavailable'. I have now reposted the missing ones, direct (most were in a 1969 WA bus thread).
While the forum can cope, my advice is to use the direct-posting feature. Because it is an open forum for viewing, you can always post a link to the relevant page for viewers elsewhere.

Try this mate,
Its not straight forward like the other photo hosting sites, but it can be done.

- in google pics Open the pic in question.

- Right click it and "copy link location"

- click the image tab at the top of the forum text box you are typing your post in

- Copy that link - by using (Ctl + V) (yep, good old dos to the rescue) the image code you just copied
It will look like this (Ive shortened it in the middle

- Then manually add -tmp.jpg after the -no bit on the end (in red)

It will now look like this (again shortened) lh3.googleusercontent.com/T...K4ZeoDe-dk...1198-h799-no-tmp.jpg

- Voila.

.I think I will forget PB for a while to see if things change about all the old pics that were loaded through them..........
Meanwhile , like Roderick ,I shall continue to load my pics direct to the forum after re sizing them....
But I always save my pics regardless of who I use......
Now I wonder if there is a limit to the amount of pics that can be loaded to the forum site, will there be problems
in the future ?, I guess that remains to be seen.............

Loading pic's shouldn't be to big a load on the forum. As I understand it.
The problem is when people link/share pictures from a forum to other sites, that's when it starts to way down or start to tax the forums server as the forum then becomes a hot link host for that picture somewhere else.

.I keep getting automated emails from PB ,wanting me to subscribe, and say I can reply to said email,
but it only goes back to a robot, I have had no luck in contacting them at all to express my feelings............
Of corse there are millions of people upset and venting their feelings on the net..............
