Just after Christmas I went to buy something costing $14. I did not have a $10 note so gave the 20-something male at the cash register a $20 and four one dollar coins.
He could not work out how much change to give me.
I had to explain that it cost $14, I had given him $24, so I needed $10 change. I could see several $10 notes in the cash drawer. I have seen him serving there before so he was experienced with the product and his position.
I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Please don’t tell me that you’re surprised. It’s a weekly experience. I’ve had a lady 50+ who should have passed 4th class, at Maccas who had the same problem.

Morris, did you have to explain that you expected 2x$3 and one $4 note as change?Morris wrote: What is the world coming to?

I am in Australia, not Ireland!:woohoo:
Don't worry, I am allowed to make Irish jokes as my Father was born in Belfast (so I am told, I have not seen him since I was eight years old. He passed away about twenty years ago. Left my Sister and I $1000 each)
