Saw these today. I don't think Swishy could handle this big iron more suitable for Rex's fleet.

You won't need a road train licence for that one, Lang!

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

It has been close to freezing in India. I went out early in Varanasi/Benares to find Indian dogs are smarter than the average pooch. The last guy takes the cake - who needs an electric blanket.

Well India continues.

A 200km drive from Allahabad now called Pryagraj to Patna took 13 hours in the car!

The night section included a pedestrian elbow with the mirror, a dog and a crash barrier fallen over on the road (luckily the scratches polished out. Everybody drives on high beam in a weaving video game. Oxcarts, tractors and 50 % of all trucks have no lights at all. 90% of motorbikes have high beam with no tail light

The roads were seriously, often first gear speed, potholed and 1 1/2 lanes wide. Passing is as required either left or right.Trucks travel on the right on dual carriageways at about 60kmh. This is sensible as the inside lane is infested with tuk tuks, people, animals, push bikes, motor scooters and oxcarts and the cars can get around this infestation much more easily. Only saw one crash when a motor scooter ducked inside us and dropped a wheel off the high bitumen edge. I saw two lifeless bodies in the mirror as we plunged on into the fray.

We got onto the 5km bridge over the Ganges into Patna and stopped dead with well over 1,000 trucks two lanes wide plus a third lane who got through the centre barrier and blocked the outside lane of the oncoming carriageway. It took from 9.00pm to midnight to cover the 5km.

Walking around today I saw some great Indian English signs:

One I had seen in Calcutta years ago was up on their Patna branch shop.

J.B. Gupta and Sons
Purveyors of Lingerie to Ladies of Distinction
We Have Had a Hand in Ladies Underwear for 30 Years.

Patna Driving School
Special 5 Day Crash Course

And one I particularly liked on a shop selling combs, ribbons, bobby pins and hair clips.
We Sell the Best Ladies Clits.

I will have half a dozen!

Thought a photo of the typical Indian electricity system is interesting. In the villages they have wires attached to bamboo poles with a hook on the end and when it is time for the evening news they just go into the street and hook the wires over the passing power lines.
