Time to fire up the Chamberlain again, John?
I'll bet the grass is 4' high at your place with all this rain and heat.
Jarrod.

I saw, the other week, a ten ton digger, with a flail mower head, cutting terrain that would otherwise only be maintained by a whipper-snipper, such was the roughness and inaccessibility of the ground.

What size ride on John? HP and deck size make a huge difference then they are only ride on mowers not slashers. When they see long grass the deck neds to be raised and have a couple of runs over it.

The grass at John's place, at least down the back would defeat any rider mower I can think of. The old go forward 4" and wait for the revs to come back up job. Once the first track is made, it would be just cutting a few inches off each side to avoid bogging the engine down. My place has been like this in the past.

I blame global warming...and global raining.....and global grass growing.......the new mower is a Rover /MTD Chinese.......it simply cant handle wet /damp grass......a few seconds in damp grass ,the cutter deck clogs ,and the $60 drive belt smokes .....this happened twice in the first five minutes I had it ,and before I knew it the drive belt had melted ..The old Deutscher would cut any grass ,wet ,damp ,6ft tall ,no worries .

I have only seen one Deutscher and it was a real beauty and came with a trailing mower with its own power supply and was offset so he got 2 cuts for one pass.

Most Ride on's are strictly Lawn Mowers unless you spend the value of a small car on a Commercial one..
