Bob, If the GVM is 12 tonne or greater,

YES.

You will need a book, & you will need to log the entire journey.......

I do stand to be corrected .
My understanding is if the truck is over 12 GVM you must use a log book .
Also it would not apply to your case ,But if the vehicule is on a schedualed maintanance program you are supposed to fill out log book ,even if the GVM is lower than 12 ton .

The guys are correct over 12ton GVM no matter what the current weight of it is will require a log book for any trip over 100km's from base. And should be filled in correctly for entire trip with the correct amount of breaks etc.

You should get the Log Book from your local home base road authority. not sure if you could for example pickup a log book from NSW if you have a VIC licence. And if it is your first you have to sign your life away indicating it is your first! :o and if not have to show your existing log book.

Yup ... as said ... gotta have the log book and it needs to be issued from home base..

Actually for this gig, basically the same as my two recent trips, it's quite handy to log all the stops etc when you think back about the trip later on. Don't forget to take lots of pics. I just used my phone, and clicked off random pix as I went along. Some great memories there in a few years time 8-)

Be it firearms or V8 engines, the question is not "why should you have them?"
, but "who are you to demand that I justify them?"

When in Pt Augusta ... stop at the Mobil Servo/Truckstop ... eastern end of town on the right just past the "Pt Augusta East Motel".
New Manager is Serena ... tell'er Eddy says "hiya"

Food is great and showers are clean ... a rarity

Make sure you fill in and complete your Log book page and don't forget to leave any information out.
Just recently I was pulled over by Highway patrol for a log book check when one of the Officers went through every page in my log book and found a page that I forgot to sign off. I fined $733.00,for not signing my name on one page. >:(

If it doesn't have a tray it can't carry any payload & therefore it could be called "plant"?
