Those Freightliner Argosy steps are activated automatically when the door is opened, they have an emergency button to stop them mounted just behind the door. You have to be carefull when you are working on them if you are anywhere near the step and the door is either opened or closed. I thought the K200 Kenworth was supposed to get them too. They are definatly safer from the piont of view of 3 pionts of contact, but I'm not 100% sure about the fact they have to open and close.
I wonder how much of the $225,000 old mate actually got after the solicitors cut?

Yes and they rip off easy when backing out of a shed, especially if your distracted by the disgusting mess left on the dash by the owner. :-[
Then to be told by same peanut owner it does fail alot.
Needless to say DH got his fixed on my insurance. >

Yeah I know Freightliner Argosy's have the little stairs that come out when the door is opened , look the goods I reckon.
Harleigh.
Until they malfunction, and they will.

General rule of thumb, if it's a no win - no fee deal, he should receive just under half of what ever the settlement was.
AR$E#OLE solicitors ( vultures/bloodsucking leeches ) sure do make a killing, on this sort of crud.

those steps on freightliner argosys are very espensive to get replaced. the average truck mechanic can fit them but the catch is you have to go back to freightliner dealer to get the computer recalibrated to accept the new steps.they shore know how to make money on after sales parts and service.

We had to do an induction on the Ben's before we could drive it, the first thing we were shown was,
These are on all the Ben's trucks they have there.

How to tell if it'd daylight or after sun down
How to look forward out of the windscreen
How to make the engine make a noise
How and when to breathe (either end)

Gee jumping out of that Commer takes me back.
Standard way to exit and weren't they a tiny cab by today's standards.
Always had the paint kicked off the mudguard from the left foot when entering though.
Leyland made a big deal about "on balance" entry to their Ergo cabs when they were first released but with 2-steps it was still easy to get wrong footed and make a hash of it.
