...apparently some WW2 tanks had radial air cooled engines....not too sure if these types can be confused with an aero engine ?

One of my mechanics has a radial in his shed, I'll try to get a pic and some info when I remember.

The tanks were Stuart tanks and I know of two on a farm just on the out skirts of Melbourne one good the other I dunno about bought after the war and used as tractor not very good as tractors but was all they could get

Yes, it seems that the same engine was used in planes as well as tanks. The one ole mate has, is one of a pair. He told me all about it some time ago, when I first spotted it in the corner of the shed. He has located the the other engine and the plane they come from still exists, his also building his own 2 seat kit plane.
