gotta thank hardtopman for his effort so far, its looking like one more Jimmy dodge will be still making noise on the street and maybe even earning a dollar, he really has gone the extra mile.

its definitely running the 40 mono grade oil, its a mobil oil and it says it suits the two stroke. does look like the cleanest part of the donk though under them covers!

with the injectors the ones out of the white beast were C50 which looks as per the GM manual for a 79 model, out of the red one it had M50 is there much difference??

What injectors are you running? There are several hundred different injectors which can be fit into a 53/71/92 series engine, spanning a dozen or more different injection heights. Your air box looks somewhat normal for a working engine. Through the air box you want to wipe the sides of each piston through the liner ports. If you feel heavy scoring, or note that the tin plating is gone from the piston skirt it might be time for a rebuild. While looking in the air box, poke each compression ring on all of the pistons. If the ring has spring to it, it is doing its job. If not, the ring is stuck or cracked. Running an engine with stuck or cracked rings will facilitate liner and piston wear. You should only run SAE40 oil in these engines year round, no 15W40 in the winter!!! If you need a couple scans from a 53 series manual let me know. The tune up guide covers more than just setting the injectors!

There is a difference between C50 and M50 injectors.

C50 injectors have an 8 hole tip with 0.0055" holes in it, flowing 50-55mm3 of fuel per 1000 strokes.
M50 injectors have a 6 hole tip with 0.006" holes in it, flowing 50-54mm3 of fuel per 1000 strokes.

The smaller the hole in the injector tip, the higher the fuel pressure generated by the injector. Smaller holes in a higher number configuration will burn much cleaner than a smaller number of larger holes. Expect the C50's to have better fuel atomization and more complete combustion than the M50's will.

Power wise, you will not notice much of any difference at all between the C series and M series injectors. My book shows a 6V53N making 210hp at 2800rpm with C50 injectors timed at 1.470"

M50 injectors are military multifuel injectors which can burn up to 50% kerosene or gasoline/diesel mix in a pinch.

If you are looking for more power, a naturally aspirated engine will not burn anything more than a "50" injector can flow. The engine will simply make more smoke and no more power with a larger injector fitted. You will need to retrofit the engine with a turbocharger to take advantage of larger fuel injectors,

thanks for all the info K-TRON

we will be sticking the C50 injectors back in and see how the truck goes from there, its definitely abit tired so a rebuild will be on the cards one day. Just want to get it up and running and get a bit of use out of the truck.

putting a turbo on, now your talking

Got this truck and sorting a few issues out, electrics being one of them, old farmer has had his time in the old girl and added some spaghetti, scotch lock joins and so on.
Whats this thing/switch, has air in one side and 2 electrical wires. One is on the cold side of brake light switch and the other on hot.

PURE GUESS here.

does it have a tralier handpiece?
if It does, I'd say that switch puts the brake lights on when you pull the Trailer handpiece Lever.......

HTM, that is the PBR stop light switch, yours has a CA 300?
When they used the Westinghouse style trailer brake controls they used the type you can see in the background of your pic.

The switch in the background, is that not the brake light switch for the truck.
A lot of the wiring is pure Valiant and easy to nut out
Has had plenty of extra wires run over years to solve problems and also as it has a D series Inter cab put on it at some point adds to the mix.
Getting hold of a factory workshop manual tomorra to chase up the wiring diagram.
Has no speedo cable at all so need to chase one up, what sort of end does the Rt610 use, i see the speedo end is the same as a Valiant.
