Atkipete, or anyone else with the answer,

I am getting... have already got... old and soft, I dont fancy driving about without a heater in my Butterbox Acco. I have seen one advertised with such a comodity, I have had a look at fitting some foreign aftermarket or second hand heater, but where do you put it??

Pete, my parts book does not show one,
the obvious place is up above the pedals but there is so little room, were they cut in through the floor perhaps???

Sarge, you're right about the Butterboxes being cold .. they are shockers on cold nights. I can still recall frozen legs in my Butterbox .. although the engine cowl was always warm. I never got around to figgering any heating method for the cab .. but I'd suggest that you investigate some cowling and vent tubing (such as in modern cars), to pick up some air from the engine side of the radiator (the top of the core is hottest, and closest to the footwell) .. and redirect it to the footwell area above the pedals. A butterfly-style valve would be all that you'd need to govern the air flow or shut it right off.

There was never a heater in the original design but not even listed as an option. I have seen an air con unit fitted in the LHS foorwell so I think you could get a heater in there. Need some ducting to get the heat up to defrost the windscreen.

Sarge,

Ive never seen one with a heater.
We used to let the latch's go on the engine cover on the drivers side and put two beer cans squashed in the gizzards in to prop the cover up with about a 1" gap. Cans kinked in the gizzards didnt fall out.
Old steel beer cans worked good but I dont know where you'll find a couple now.
Was nice and warm but bloody noisy :D

Gee...now that takes me back to my army days with the 'ol Inters, that's what we used to do during winter down in Victoria, and NSW. Yep, and if memory serves me right it was damn noisy but once the cab warmed up (with slight fuely smell) it was reasonably 'toasty'.

well that at least explains why the acco on ebay last year made a special note that it had a heater.......

I've spent lots of time and effort reducing the noise, so no beer cans for Swishy to MT.....

Had not heard of 12 volt heaters... may be worth checking out...

Might still try to get a landcruiser "under seat" heater, up over the pedals, if I take it out of the landcruiser first, it might fit.
