I recall in 1991 whilst working as a storeman in Clayton, loading an F88 bogie drive (Qld reg) and talking with the driver about how not many of these were (left) on the road. It's cab was red with silver painted front guards.. The carriers he drove for were also running a tired Atkinson 3800. Each was pulling a 1970's vintage bogie pantech.
He said the one he was driving was part of an original batch of 10 F88's destined for Aust Government use; that never eventuated. Then it was sold to its 1st owners.
Not sure if this adds any beneficial Volvo info to anyones archive or not?

Joe,I think that was a fully imported,I read an article in a magazine about it.Old mate that owns it used to drive it for another fella, and bought it later, then sold it,then bought it back and fixed it up.He mentioned all the differences between the local and the import in the article.

From what I can interpret betwwen the F and G Series, the F-Series Volvos were lighter and had a TD70 engine and the G-Series had the TD100/120 engine and were heavier!
I do stand to be corrected though......
That G88 I put on here has the TD100 engine!
