silastic Ok but we have now moved onto Black Urethane the stuff they seal windscreens with
also 4 get araldite we use wot the yanks swear by .............. n tiz good/better

No sweat, Swishy. Some helpful clues been posted here. have tried the Araldite fix on half a dozen nuts/bolts so see how they go.Cheers.

On the subject of JB Weld mentioned by Swishy, some years ago my brother was up in the Gulf country in his Landrover Defender, adventurous to say the least. Long story short, he stripped the spline in the rear axle to hub. Not being anywhere near spares or help, he stripped it down, cleaned it all up with Brake Clean, mixed up and applied the JB Weld and waited 24 hours.

When he reached Darwin, he bought a new hub to fit when his emergency repair failed. The new hub was still in the box when he sold the beast 2 years later. Can't get a better recommendation that that.
