If I was going again I would probably make a masonite template of the chassis shape and lay it out on the floor to get height and location of the spring pedestals right without trial and error. The chassis in the relevant area is not flat and kicks down towards the rear which complicates the geometry. As it happened all worked out well.
My mudguards are curved chequer plate with angle iron arranged to slide in/out thus avoiding damage if loading dozers.

Other thing, my setup came with 30/30 boosters which although weren't giving lock-up problems on dry roads with my prime mover were obviously doing the lions share of braking in normal driving. Hard to get what should be run of the mill advice without paying engineering fees, but a change to 24/30 boosters seems to provide a good balance.
Alignment of the axles was achieved before hubs went on - measuring from front corners of float, and tracks perfectly.
