The top road speed for a 1418 is 53.6 miles per hour flat, they produce 205 horse power at 2200 rpm and 185 net bhp at 2200 rpm they give you 8 miles per gallon or better fully loaded<a href=" s981.photobucket.com/albums/ae296/Malwal...mp;current=008-1.jpg " target="_blank">

OK
If 53.6mph is best I can get out of her then lets work towards that.
With everything I have done so far what would you recommend I try next to get another 5mph?
If I can get her to sit on 53mph at 2200rpm then I would be happy.

With you foot flat to the floor on the go pedal get someone to check where the linkage is on the stopper on the pump it should be touching it

You might not get much more than that. It would depend on the internal setting in the pump. I had mine rebuilt & the chap who did it cut it back a bit for 10,000km & I took it back to open it up to full specs plus a touch. To get 5k's or more you're going to need to something mechanical I'm afraid. Don't use that 2 sp diff if you don't want to spend big money. I'll try attaching a pic of mine loaded for Perth outta Melb some years ago.

Scrubchomper - What tyres are you running? 10.00 x 20's? If you look around, you will find some tyres, even in the same tyre size, that have a fair bit bigger diameter, than other brands in the same tyre size.
Fitting a set of these larger diameter tyres will boost your top speed by the necessary 10-15kmh.

Cheers - Ron.
