Grease nipple on a torque tube was created by
My 1934 ws Bedford has a grease nipple up behind the gearbox which greases the enclosed uni which is hard to see so you don't no if on it or not.
So i was thinking of extending it with copper tube and putting a a grease nipple into it has anyone got any thoughts on what i could do? or how to go about it?. Thanks Deadly

Deadly,
am I correct in assuming the torque tube doesn't spin but the shaft inside it does?
If that is the case you could extend the grease nipple to a more accessible position easily. If you can get some flexible (metal) tubing you could mount the grease nipple on the chassis somewhere and fill the tube with grease as well. You will get some movement between the torque tube and the chassis so the flexible tube will take that up while the copper will eventually give way if subject to continual bending and straightening.
The option you suggest of the extending using copper tube also works if you are only supporting the one end and use copper with a thick enough wall to have some strength.
I have seen both methods used on railway locos to make life easier with both oil and grease

Dave..an easy way to remote mount a grease nipple is go get yourself a grease gun flex hose.
The thread on a Mcnaught is the same as a 1/8"BSP grease nipple. Screw grease nipple out and screw the hose in. Screw other end of hose into one side of a female socket and grease nipple into the other side. This will give you about a foot to play with. It works good with the gresa gun hose because they have swivel ends you can weld the socket to a mounting bracket.
If you want it longer do the same but with 1/4"nylon air hose similar to used on trucks.
You will need a 1/8" BSP male - 1/4 hose fitting and a 1/4 hose - 1/8" BSP female fitting to do this.
This works good to get all the grease nipples located outside the chassis. Especially good for roadranger clutch when you have step tanks. Note - it stills pays to have a look occassionally to make sure grease is actually going where its supposed to with remote nipples.
