R686 Mack 'The Mexican' was created by Mitch G
Hi, this is my 78' Mack which is named 'The Mexican'. Have had it for a week, not to much is done but still on track for it's first outting to Allora in Jan. Bought it from Melbourne hence the name of the truck . It has a 300 with a 9 speed and can fly by dad's B61 with ease . It's far from show truck status but over time she will, right now is cleaning her up and getting her rego'd. (all the primer is all the stuff that has been welded on over the years and that is now cut off and smoothed) Lots of pictures by the way.
In Melb.
Arrived

Nice truck Mitch, someone has updated the running gear if it's '78. You might have to come down and get a bag of P clips to tidy up all the air lines. Looking forward to seeing it out and about.

Thought I'd update . Yeah the previous owner was doing her up and out the motor, box, late front end and late cab and bonnet. Here's some progress pictures, there's alot!! I'm having alot of fun with the truck, and only just breaking the surface. Here we go!
First bling!
First set of mudgaurds didn't last long! Was a failed mistake.
Couldn't get her going damn airstarts!
Start of new rear bar and new gaurds.
Painted and flaps mounted
Got Histo reg with personal plates - 78 RMK (1978 R Mack)
Got these!
And got new straps and painted the tank with pressure pack.
Start of the change over
How it turned out
Made this up to cover holes
Scored the top at KW pallet sale for $50 bucks!! Used exhaust 6 to 5" to mount it ha ha.
New lights!
Got 2 new seats, driver on air, static pass seat (will change to air when I can afford it!) new floor mat and shift boot.
Mum went to Hawaii and bought me back some one who dances to my singing, her name is "Lola".
Saturday morning of Beenleigh
Saturday night of Beenleigh
And now to date, I got it pinstriped on the Sunday at Beenleigh. I will get better pictures but the cross on the back is to remember my 2 granma's, my granpa, uncle, Smiler and some other family and friends who have passed on.
And Dad and my trucks together at Beenleigh 2012.
Like I said alot to go but I'm enjoying every bit!!! Enjoy!

Well done.
I had a R686 valueliner E6 350 12 speed for nearly 12years and I tell you, it wasn't comfortable to drive until I airbaged the rear end. As far as I'm concerned, the Mack 12 speed is the best thing Man ever invented.
