Hello,
I need to make a replacement wooden frame for my Mercedes L6600Sa from 1955.

This is the frame that was originally built before the metal was put around it. I have the tools, some wood and I am ready to go but I have no idea how to go about it.

Perhaps there is someone who has build wooden frames for vintage vehicle and willing to help me a little with advise and know how?

I am in Engadine 2233 NSW.

Kind regards
Bernt

your correct but Karl Benz sometimes twists the truth a little .. the compliance plate on mine is 18.5 tonne GVM ..and those 240horses need a good feed they struggle getting up hills..
mine is a twin steer single drive

Funny thing is , I think a 1418 Benz ( Hi Torque ) was actually 210 hp,
Must be someone in the club that has built a cab from scratch, maybe John Franklin. Are any of the metal panels still usable?

even some old timer boat builders mite have advice . in the early 70s my old man made a boat from scratch i can remember him "shaping" or bending the wood with the use of rags and boiling water ..
Bernt i know that "klaus" from riverstone motor wreckers had a old benz there ..i cant remember exactly what model it was but some parts may be useful

Hi Bernt

Welcome aboard. It might be worth trying to catch up with Peter Marquet who has several old wooden-framed Albions. I'm not sure if he's done any work himself but as he moves in those circles he might know someone. He's in NSW too so could suggest a local of sorts.

Private message me if you don't have his details.
