HI newto
I think it is a really good song, but...... my Cummins is a 903, it doesn't really hum, I think it yells!!

Hi Swish
Yeah, I know about about Cummins and eyebolts etc, but the 903 revs harder thant he 8V71..... on the other hand.. the GM exhausts valves open a lot more often.

I have a foot in both camps.

Well a big thanks has to go to newto for coming over the hill and setting all the injectors and rappers early this morning. He reckons the engine is strong but the pump has been removed and sent away to get some new seals, more $$ but I need it spot on to round up the dodges with the green engines ;)

V8 inter nut,
I struck a problem getting my clutch housing machined to take the gearbox mount. Firstly, old mate the machinist tells me the quote of $120 was per hole and secondly he can't match the taper on the mounting shaft so he is suggesting he machine the shaft to a series of steps and then does the hole to match. It all sounds a bit dodgy to me, so I'm looking for somewhere else to do the job. >:(

How did you go? Have you found someone to do yours?

Does anyone know a good engineering joint in Sydney (that isn't flat out with work for the next 6 months).

We are going to cheat a bit. The taper is there to stop them coming undone from years of work over rough roads, as mine won't being doing more then a few thousand klms a year we will take the taper off in a lathe and then have a straight hole milled in I have run the idea past Eddie the box doctor and he agreed so that's the plan!

HaHa, it could be said to not get your possibilities mixed up with your capabilities.
Though, and Phill will no doubt have a different opinion here, the mighty 6V53 isn't exactly a powerhouse in itself.

hahaha.....are they the gold plated lifting eyes off the last
detroit that you consigned to the marine gods????

i ask because its rare that neptune gives them back unless he's been made aware of a very rare and special consignment that may be dockside and needing extra persuasion to join the green machine down under!
