My audio tech advised me to keep the old radio out of my 70!s vehicle, apparently they bring good money now, a sought after item for a resto etc

Compared to car audio systems today the old car radios are rubbish which is probably why no one wants your HQ radio Geoff.
The restoration market is limited in size and is an expensive option if you want a period correct looking radio with new or old innards. To fit modern innards that provide AM/FM, MP3, Bluetooth and mobile phone capability will set you back approximately $400.00 - $450.00 because the module itself costs between $250.00 - $300.00 dependant on the US dollar plus the fitting, testing and handling costs etc.
I only want the radios for my private museum that I am trying to establish

Have one of them awa valve radios out of a Dodge De Soto. The sound is awesome for its age.

Yep, you can't "beat" the sound of valve radios.
