Was asking moonanpom. His truck and donor trucks has popped up on Facebook.

Do these trucks have a low range at all?
Would a truck like this be able to tour the desert?

If the truck has the AEC running gear,then it has a massive transfer box with hi/low ,and six wheel drive engaged by a lever........Define desert....lot of desert is hard ground with a washouts here and there ......Id say it would be OK fir that.......for sand ,it would need big ballon tyres ,and it dont have any kind of difflock ,so would likely get stuck in soft sand with the tyres on it................probably worst would be the weight ,around 10 tons....get stuck ,will be hard to get out..........certainly need diesel.repower if its petrol still...
