A very unusual British Army Bedford. What is it doing in Australia?

The army TM 8 ton 4-4 version went on the drawing board in 1970 and won army contracts in 1976 for 2000 units which were delivered in 1981, and ran through as a civilian version from 1974 into 1980's. Either a wishful demonstrator or did the overland route when it was still newish.

From the other photos it looks totally as in service including the Hiab. It does not look like any civilian modification has taken place.

The hiab was one of the military options. I assumed that the other photo was not of that actual truck but of what it couldabeen.

The cab seems to have terminal rust ...indicates its been sitting for years ...probably under trees..............It may have been imported for the 1982 army truck tests ...........there was some interesting stuff in those tests ,just about every truck in the test was better than the Mack that got the nod ............the Unimogs were chosen in a deal with MB to use Australian content in the cars .......apparently that never happened .
