Smilng Jack , u may find that the steering lock from a ford motor car of that era may do the trick as Ford had many common parts across the range, just different parts no's for each application, Bill Thompson auto rubbers in Ringwood Vic may have the rubbers u require, but I do stand 2 b corrected : :

Well at least D series were plentiful.
I gather you are in Qld. Can't advise you on new parts, but for the steering/ignition, and other assorted body parts, I would call Claus at Autobreakers in Riverstone NSW on 0414 987659. Claus loves the D Series Fords & has a few of them. He has been mentioned uncharitably by others last time I mentioned him, but I find him OK if you go there yourself. What he has will be on a truck/wreck, not on a shelf. As he likes those Fords, & you buy something, he may also know where to get new rubbers from for them.
Don't know where you are but if you live interstate, he probably won't take anything big off & ship it, & I suspect he won't want the hassle of posting, but if he takes it off, I (or some else here) am happy to pick up small things like locks & blinkers etc & post to you, or pass on when paths cross. I'm not going to Alice for example but a handful of others in the Sydney Antique Machinery Club are. Best of luck.
