Some of the Jockies i have 'heard' operating? :-/ some of the mack boxs..
I think they selected gears that Mack didn't know were in there!
I have seen the results of some slick changes in the bottom of the box with the fat on too... :o

Young mate took me for a spin in a 320, maybe 12? speed ish...not sure really..
Dunno whether he really knew either.. ::)
He sure could get em in..whether they wanted to or not!
There was triple clutchin and revvin and roarin..
Buckin and jumpin and crunchin and revvin...
But she was a goer...ay Chocs!
Hope you are reading this Gary.... :D

Those Mack boxes could take a hell of a lot of punishment without complaining or breaking. I don't know anyone who could guarantee a silent change from high 4th to low 5th on a 10 speed; while the lower gears were easy to get right that one wasn't, but nothing ever seemed to break.

BC asked the question would i know if the six speed box can be split , so i asked my good friend Eion and answer is yes in theory, But extremely impractical as the shifts are NOT progressive, the only box that he is aware of is the 7 speed can be changed back to a 10 speed direct by removing the lockout on the top 3 gears. changing from 4th to 5th on a mack 5speed is a big jump waiting for the revs to die down ,so i give the engine a burp with the dynatard before pulling into gear , as thats what mack made dynatards for not for slowing down trucks

BC you might as well open the doors up to slow down it would be more efficent than a dynatard

bring n back memoriez
LOL
when eye stated next best thing to Auto
we used the Dynatard to kill revs B tween cog shiftz
cos it had to looz bout 600 revs
n the dynatard U could pull the lever straight thru
the dynatard is multiplied by wot ever gear U B in
most effective each time U slip it down a cog

Or have wedge brakes, about the same effect.

If I'm allowed to briefly highjack this thread, is there any easy way to distinguish between the Duplex, Triplex and Quadraplex just looking at the box?

@ Swishy: does the shift pattern in the brochure you posted reflect the later TRD 5X2 only? I believe there was an earlier Mack twin-stick 10sp (as on the NR models) and that had a weird shift pattern, am I correct?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
