Certainly is. I'm always amazed Qld seems to be able to sustain two large shows run by different clubs - Cleveland and Beenleigh. That's an outsider's view, the reality might be different. One thing's for sure, they have some good gear up there.
I think Sandown is the biggest old truck show in the country each year.

G'day Roland , thanks for the GMC article , it was great, also the colour photo of big GMC . Thats a good looking truck ( in my opinion anyway )
There is only one thing strange to me about that photo, the rain caps appear to be closed which would indicate to me that the engine wasn't running
Maybe it was a GM promotional photo they used. Anyway mate as Swishy says " keep em cummin'"
regards Harleigh

Hi Roland, I loved that GMC story, especially about the steering. I used to drive an old W model Kenworth, and I seem to remember it had about 17 turns of the wheel from lock to lock, well nearly anyway, and absolutely no self-centring. It used to catch a lot of people out, especially if they had been brought up on British trucks but once you got used to it there was no problem. I also used to drive a Mack Superliner which had a helicopter pad in front of the windscreen instead of a bonnet; everyone used to paint the bonnet top matt black as otherwise the sun (which we have in NZ) used to reflect so badly on it that you couldn't see to drive.
Strangely enough, North American trucks have gone completely the opposite way in respect to steering, with very small steering wheels and very high-geared steering.

Gday VH
I'm glad you liked the article.
I have only ever driven 1 x Big Yank.
It was a White Road Commander 2 back in '80-'81.
It was only for about 20 mins when I was doing an assessment for a PX deal.
That was long enough to dislike it.
I am sure you get used to the peculiarities in time, so my comments are probably unfair.
Cheers
