WEDNESDAY On the way home through the Central North Island with the roads just recently re-opened after heavy snowfalls

THURSDAY Down to Hawke's Bay today. A very early start because the roads were opened but more heavy snow was forecast and the road was due to be closed again. On the way back the new-fangled wireless electronic tyre-pressure monitor in the cab started to bleep and I could see that one front tyre was slowly going down. A bit of mental arithmetic and I worked out that I could get to one of the few pull-off places where there was mobile phone service by the time the pressure would have dropped to about 65psi, which worked out OK. Called Bridgestone and the friendly tyre fitter came from the nearest town about an hour away, fitted a new tyre and I was away before the snow came down again.

Will I found better weather down the South island Vic. If the turntable is dry you would feel it through the steering long before it started to scrub steer tyres. If you have a tyre man regularly looking at your fleet he should be picking up odd wear.

We don't use greased turntable plates, Pete, we have used Easi-Turn pads for years and are very happy with them. They save a lot of mess and give a good constant feel to the steering.

Could be the road eh?It doesn`t look like the kiwi`s have a lot of autobarns there to fang about on.Looks a bit like a drive tyre on the steer,is that something to do with the snow?
