Looks a bit like a drive tyre on the steer,is that something to do with the snow?
Yep they were drive tyres on the steerers, Cam. It was a bit of an experiment really. A lot of loggers use that tread on the front wheels as they like them for offroad work and they were finding, surprisingly, that they also worked well on the highway and gave good mileage as well. It was suggested that I try them and my mate who drives an identical truck kept the normal highway tyres on his.
They were no problem at all, really. As they had deeper treads the truck was inclined to move around a little bit at first until they wore down slightly but it was nothing serious and they had plenty of grip and they did last longer than normal highway tyres.
