Sounds like a plan then

Funny thing is I read a Hotrod magazine once as young bloke and "lil John Buttera" said something along the lines that "it takes 4 times as long to build and cost 10 times as much as we think" LOL
So far with just about all things I have done this proves about right

Lucky we only do it for fun

Paul

Yep, gotta agree Paul, AT LEAST four times longer than planned, but in my case generally because of being a tight "horses behind" penny picher! Cost is ALWAYS more than we'd like or could possibly afford - but like you said, "we only do it for fun"

Hi All, thanks for all the comments, yep it's always going to take time & money but what the heck, It'll be fun!!
One question I really need answered is does anyone know the wheel base of the AA120 4x4?
I'm tracking down a line of thought about putting the whole body on a different 4x4 chassis like a late model Landcruiser toopy or lwb ute or something similar.
Might not be fair on the purists but it'd probably make a really great truck!
Let me know if anyone has the dimensions please.
Much appreciated.

You forgot to add, along with the expense comes the exercise part of it, you know, where you do the block, jump up and down, throw things at the wall then spend half the day trying to find them! This is called FUN!
Not to mention, the colourful language, educating the neighbours kids, unless you live out the scrub and they can't hear you.
And after you have tallied up your receipts for the project in question, picked yourself up off the floor, realised that you could probably gone out and bought yourself a new or good second hand Aston-Martin, but you would have missed out on the best part of it all.
Could have stood back at the end of the day and rolled a smoke, nodded sagely to yourself and said, "Well, I DID that!"

Spot on Dave.

The comment I did that is more satisfying than having the money or the new/second hand Aston.

I try to reason that if I spent as many hours in a Cinema as I do building a vehicle it would cost just as much and Id have nothing to show for it.

Besides it gets me out of the house and my wife likes that!

With the bonus that at least the womenfolk know where you are! The daughter used to bang on the shed door and push the coffee in with an old shovel handle.

Maybe you should be looking at a Nissan Patrol. The unbreakable 4.2 with no fancy electrics but more important much wider track than a Landcruiser to match the Inter. An old Troopy or ute probably has a non turbo engine which is a real slug and probably will disappoint after going to all that trouble.
