As i said before this is just another way of looking at looking at things which always causes comment.

You either agree or disagree.

This theory says that the new millennium did not start until 01/01/2001.
Immediately after the end of the previous one, on the last day of 2000.

It is a very long-running cause for discussion.
Mention it in any group and there will always be 50/50 agreement.
As I have said before the world would be boring if we were all the same.

Roland, you are right of course, as I'm sure you know, but most people did celebrate the start of the new millenium on the 1st Jan 2000, which, strictly speaking, was incorrect.

At the beginning of the calendar we now use, the 1st year started on the 1st January 0001AD, there was never a year 0 (or 0000), so the 1st millenium finished 1000 years later on the 31st December, 1000 and the 2nd millenium started on the 1st January 1001. Similarly the 3rd millenium started on the 1st January 2001.

Doesn't matter, though, does it!

Cheers anyway for 2010, whether it is the year before the start of the next decade or the actual start of it.
