Three axle 6 x 2 Artic tractors (Prime Movers) are much the norm with tri-axle trailers running up to 44 tonnes in the UK. The 11.00 - 20 16 ply rating cross-ply tyres on my 1963 Foden timber tractor are rated for 7165 lbs/3250 kg when used singly on a steer axle. Quite a number of Artics here are fitted with over-width low-profile tyres on steer axle which probably have a higher load rating.

Saw a big Meales concrete pump the other day, think a Mercedes chassis.
Three steer axles, tandem drive then a couple of steerable trailing axles.
Wonder how they worked out those capacities.
