Yesterday I saw a Morris Oxford ute around 1949/51 I think ,maybe it was a Morris Isis it had a very long ute body on it with what looked like vertical ribs on the outside of the ute body .Don't remember seeing one like it before ,couldn't get a photo as it drove past me in the opposite direction. Looked in the internet can't see anything like it ,maybe someone on here would know a bit about said vehicle .Swanny

Swanny,
I have no idea what it could be.  The 1950/51 Morris sedan, larger than a Minor, was an MO Oxford.  The utes were usually labelled Cowley but I am not aware of any that had a particularly longer body and have never heard of any Morris that had vertical (Or any other) corrugations.

Sorry, I cannot help.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

I can't find anything other than US style pick-up bodies and the factory smooth sided one.

Anyhow here is a picture of a Morris J2 ute. we all know they were renowned for their power and a desirable burn-out vehicle.

I am sure that Lang was very tongue-in-cheek when he said that Morris J2's with their 1476cc engine were a well known powerhouse.
I think the one he pictured was the only drag racing one in the world and almost certainly had an American V8 in it.  It appears to have a two door body with two rows of seats, a configuration that the factory did not offer. As far as I know it was cut down from a van.

It is, though, an interesting photo.

Vertical ribs sounds odd. Horizontal ribs make me think of a Peugeot 404 ute, but they're much later and differently styled.
Curious.

Sounds like a homemade replacement for a rusted out factory styleside.

Maybe the vertical ribs were wood like the early Morris Minor Traveler. But were painted dark  =19.5pxgreen like the rest of the vehicle, that's what drew my attention as it drove past, when I first saw it I could see it was an early Morris Oxford or Isis. My first car was a Morris Minor & I did't like the Oxford ,it looked like an overgrown Morris Minor
