These trucks had an interesting front wheel drive using bevel gears ...........th design was copied by the little Jap tractors post war ,just about every jap or chinese tractor has the same front axle. drive.

Yes they provided a good turning circle long before CV joints

I read a article on this lady back in the 80s

I have seen that front wheel drive system on those tractors and wonder how a differential was organised, probably with the tractors on dirt it wouldn’t matter.

Some tractors have a drive shaft from each side of the gear box, I was thinking of them.

Yes Paul,
That Mack design goes through a lot of bevel gears which as you say gives a good turning circle.
