More power for a Bedford bus was created by plod
Hi Folks, I am newbie. I have a 1975 Bedford bus, 500 motor, turner 5 speed o/d box, 5.2 ratio diff, with a PMC body. It weighs about 9 ton and is 36 feet long which I am converting to a motor home. The motor is new and has done about 15,000kms. It cruisers at about 95/100kph at 2300 rpm. On the flat is is good but hit a hill and down to 2 gear and about 20 KPH. Is there anyway I can get a bit more grunt out of it for going up hills, please? Thanks, Plod

We had 2 Bedford VAL's at Silverline Coaches fitted with 8.2L Bedford 500 engines for a bit more power - different rotary fuel pump on them and open right up. plenty of black smoke if you held your foot flat but driven watching the smoke (for EPA reasons) still went well. Apparently they had a bigger bottom end so that they could be turbo. Plus they had 2 speed diffs.

Be it firearms or V8 engines, the question is not "why should you have them?"
, but "who are you to demand that I justify them?"

try LPG injection maybe? as well as the hair drier.
'course a rebuild would possibly help also ...
