G'day All

One of my customers from the '70s sent me this pic.

I know most of you will be more interested in the 1930's AEC Mammoth Major hitching a ride, to a show.

But the Maggie 190-29 is nearly 30 years old.
They are both looking good. :)

Cheers

G'day Pete

Yes the IVECO cab was used by several manufacturers, including the Russian Uralaz I recently went on about.

If I can get more info on the old AEC I will put it up here.

Cheers mate

Hi Kenny

You are right.
When IVECO bought up Fords European truck operation in 1986 , they started to use the Eurocargo cab.
The Original Cargo cab which was built in UK and Germany ( possibly Belgium also ?) was dropped.
The Eurocargo cab became a general mid range cab, and is the basis of the ACCO cab as used in Dandenong.
There is now a MK2 Eurocargo cab introduced in 2003, with a wedge shaped grille configuration which brings it in line with the larger Stralis cab. The Stralis cab is built at the former Magirus Deutz factory in Ulm Germany.
IVECO is a truly international company.
I am surprised that the 'Transit' van has continued in its monocoque construction, and that it has not been introduced with the superior, chassis/bodywork 'Daily' format, i.e a small truck, rather than a large car.
Maybe this will happen soon.

Cheers

Aww heck.....now the nightmares will begin ..again....

had many a disasterous trip in this POS

You never knew which way it would steer...it was totally under powered...the gear change was almost impossible to change.........must I go on.........

Only good thing about it was the tray that folded out of the dash to hold you lunch while you ate.

You might Laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same

Well I suppose that table would be great to eat at whilst you were broken down.
Now Roland, the ACCO cab is nothing to do with the Eurocargo cab, although recent changes to the grille have made them look similar. The current ACCO cab was designed by International Harvester in 1968 and released in 1972. Had a few changes over the years but the basics are still the same. For more info I recommend that book "The ACCO - An Aussie Icon"
