I think they were fairly common in factories etc in the days before forklifts but not as road registered vehicles. The engine unit on mine was used at the Melbourne Fruit and Veg Market, followed by the Vic Market where it was road registered, then sold to someone who was going to use it on his market garden where it kept getting bogged and was left until the chassis was to weak to carry its own weight.
However ACI GLass used them and were about to throw a chassis out so a trailer was placed between the chassis and the skip and it landed there instead. They were also used at the Munitions Factory in Footscray.
There are 3 that survive nearby, One at Mellbourne Steam Traction Engine Club, I found out that another HCVC member has had one in the back of his shed for 20 years and mine. There was yet another one at Lake Goldsmith.
They don't come out much as all the weight is on the front wheel which can play havoc with a sot surface. Leave it running sitting there and it digs in. They are also hard tolaod using ramps due to bugger all ground clearance. There is talk of having several at our display day this year

Yeh, what a terrifying view, as a a low bridge loomed ever closer. Guess the driver had to stop then, when the upstairs lookout started to bail out the back door,eh.
