Driving a White

As many of you would know i have a passion for pommey trucks .
So on the weekend i invited to drive Glenn's White Timber Jinker to Echuca from Mansflied, for the American Iron Heritage Truck Display 8/9th Sept in Echuca.
Yes i know it's week before the show but the truck is American and it needs the time to get there.
We started out about midday with me getting all the gears and round up to about 75-80 ks bit hard to no speedo dosen't work, little bit smoke in the cab but i told that was normal for yankee trucks!!! after awhile i had to put in the earplugs?? and now have tickle in my throat but i suppose that what happens when you drive a yankee drive???.
But overall it was great fun and i enjoyed the drive.Deadly

Foggy, you're a lucky son of a so and so to drive a White! Don't be too hard on it, mighty fine truck! American trucks I've owned never smoked into the cabs, even the Chev with the holes in the bottom of the doors!

Wouldn't mind seeing some pics of you in it though...

I thought the smoke in cab was really steam from the sweat as a driver of English vehicles got familiar with being able to drive a real truck at real speeds. The driver may have been a bit scared.

It unusual for you to wear earplugs - it is normally your passengers. Could you hear your own voice in the White?

Oh dear, he's getting diluted! You double your problem, Foggy, trust me. I got into pommy gear when I couldn't get enough American reading to get me through a two-week stint on the mine. As I said, you double your problem and EVERYTHING for sale gets you interested!

Who has driven this typ of White, a 3000 ?

they were reliable

there twaz never enuff power up front o do any harm
me ol man twaz crooked on white for not bring n a diesel into the country way back when

the gear linkage for the cogbox tilted with the cab
it had small pivot pins in line with the cab tilt pivot pins
& U chased the gears all round the room as they B came very sloppy real qik
the only reel adavantage of petrol powered whites from way back when
twaz the cum home MT speed
capable of 75mph in gear ifn U want (off ahill)
