Hi Guys,
I popped in to see Mick Gardner on my way home from the Heathcote Drags today and Yep,,,she's gone.
She now belongs to Robbie Shwartz from Kyalla.
Mick says Robbie wants to get her out'n'about to some shows.
He's going to see if he will bring her to Lancefield next month. Cheers. LC.

...funny thing chasing old Kenworths.......
...the other day when the old ex Sweeny/Gascoyne Trading extended hood KW was re-discovered, this old girl was mentioned... and now its WA history is forthcoming....
...originally logging in Eastern Victoria with John Cash, then ''Squeeka'' Overend and beyond that with Tommy Gilpin....
...here she is carving it out in WA...ch/no 400880 W925,12V71, 12513 RR, SSHD Rockwells ......

Good to hear that Mick's KW has gone to a good home.
Detective, is that KW ex John Cash's still around, Paddy would be pleased to hear that, we often wonder where it ended up, Paddy can remember all the serial numbers.

....now for some of her WA history....
.....Kevin Mayberry purchased the truck from Tom Gilpin around 25 years ago to cart grain and superphosphate for Brambles on doubles work throughout WA...
...the truck had a pretty nasty accident about 17 years ago, whereby in amongst the damage the chassis was bent.... complicating any repair work that would have been required, and the insurers not overly happy to proceed.......still with 12V71 and still basically as Tom Gilpin had sold it to him
....the upshot is she was sent to Soltogio Brothers...truck wreckers in WA and when Kevin later on enquired as to its whereabouts, was told by one of the long standing employees that she had been shipped off to the USA :'( :'( :'(.........
...Kevin will make some new enquiries and is happy to provide some pics...especially after the new paint work was carried out about 12 months after coming over from Victoria...
...will keep everyone posted.....cheers

...g'day all .. well the final pieces of the puzzle have come together this arvo after another quite lengthy chat with Kevin Mayberry,,,
...Kevin advises that the wreck never left Soltogio's yard and there are only a few bits remaining....power steering and front diff to name a couple of items...but apparently not much else... as whatever was too far damaged has long gone to scrap...
...the accident was in 1995 so whatever was of any use has long been sold...even the V12 was reduced and items sold off it when needed...
...the V12 had been fairly heavily modified by Kevin and ended up with a twin turbo, aftercooler set up out of a marine application and a little later...bigger 92 injectors...Kevin relates the power at between 800-880 HP.....??
...the truck arrived in the west on Reyco 4 spring suspension which wasn't heavy enough for the work Kevin wanted to carry out, so in went the six rod set up which was good for around 90 tons as required by the contract to cart for Brambles Manford....so by this stage she is on her third suspension set...
...the cab wasn't damaged at all so there may be a chance of its survival and maybe the tags to prove, but it must be remembered that she had a very nasty accident in her previous life with Squeeka Overend and in that accident ....the replacement of the original cab : :
...here is a pic of that shocking mess when over here in the east....
...so i guess that's the end of the road for this once mighty beast... i suppose Soltogio's could fill in any further gaps about the end of her existence.....no cheers this time :'( :'( :'(

g'day all .. unfortunately there are a couple of very early V12 Aussie workers coming to the end of their usable lives....
...Lysaghts two Seattle built model 849 Kenworths, delivered in January 1971, are due to be de-commissioned after many many years of faithful service carting feedstock for the ''hot mill'' from the Hastings wharves...AFAIK and IDSTBC
...ch/no's 121679 and 121680 are specced with 12V71 N, CLBT 5960 auto's with Clark BD1000 rears at 19.78 :1 ratio.....(not much good for the chromebrite cowboys) ....
...my son Glen mentioned today how the hot strip mill has closed down at Hastings,....and these two mighty jiggers will probably be put up for tender....
...with all good regard we should try to preserve these two trucks...just in case they take the wrong boat in the opposite direction.....cheers fellas
