My new springs arrived

Pretty blue colour
[IMG

They are 10mm shorter than the ones fitted but the diameter of the steel is 19mm compared to 16mm and the new ones weigh 6kg each whereas the old ones weigh 3.9kg each

I have fitted the drivers side spring after a lot of grunting

Should get the other one fitted tomorrow and then I will attack the inner guards to fix where the tyres rub grr

Both front springs have been replaced which has given and extra four inches of ride height. I have modified the front inner guards by adding another 120mm box section to increase the size of the recess which should stop the tyres rubbing on full lock.

Made up these box sections to fit to each inner guard

Managed to put some colour on the modified inner guards after work today.

This is the passengers side and I have had to chamfer the extension box section to clear the Alternator adjusting bracket and also to provide clearance for the bottom radiator hose. I also drilled some large holes to help the heat from the extractors dissipate quicker

Put the inner guards back on, fitted the bonnet hold down/release catches, the bonnet struts/stays and made up some gasket strip for where the outer guard bolts on.

I also fitted the windscreen washer bottle on the passengers inner guard near the overflow tank which took longer than planned because I wanted to hide the wiring.

This photo shows the passenger side inner guard ready for the outside guard

Did some A/C work on the ute today

First thing was to make a bending mandrill for the 10mm aluminium pipe
[IMG

I mounted the receiver dryer with a cheap fuel filter holder I got from ebay
[IMG

Finished off most of the hoses

The attention to detail continues. I dream of building something to this standard (without just chucking it in 3/4 of the way through and throwing the last bits together). I expect you'll get a lot of joy out of this one when it's on the road.

Jarrod.

Thanks for the encouraging comments Jarrod & Tacho.

Cut, polished and fitted the rear guards and drivers front guard today...the old girl is starting to look like a Ute at long last.
