There were a few about in the day. Pretty sure the first Louisville sold in Australia was a LNT 900 with a 477 in it and was an agitator. There is one at Prices as well at the moment, got manual steering so it is a pretty early one.

yes the early loosleybuilts had the 477 (later replaced by the lightweight diesel cat 3208?) the 477 didnt have a real good name and it wasnt just for fuel consumption reasons

I'm pretty sure there's a family of Bee keepers in TAS. Who run a fleet of Louies all with the 477 petrol motor.
If memory serves me right, they also have the LN700 truck "Waltzing matilda" was based/built on. & since repowered with a 477...........

Werkhorse, should/would be able to clarify.(or shoot me down in flames) ;D

G'day Whale..
I think i would be pritty accurate in saying, Hovey's Transport in Geelong ran quite a few petrol louies, converted to LPG. ( i can only assume they were 477 cubes)
They did a heap of country miles in them ol bangers..
Fairly sure Beckley's Transport in Geelong had a few too..

Thats about all the info i have for ya...

yes you are quite correct .....Stevenson from Mole Creek.....trade under the Golden Bee name....the whole fleet is petrol powered except for one sterling which took over when Waltzing Matilda was retired to start her journey back to stardom

You might Laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same

Imagine running an agi on one today. (or a 392 Inter) with an Aussie 6cyl running the bowl. Did the petrol louies have Road Ranger boxes?

Kenny, the LNT 900 had the 477 petrol, the LNT 8000 had the 3208 Caterpillar, both were available from the start. The LN 700 had the smaller V8, 360? and the narrow bonnet.
The LN just denoted that the truck was a short bonnet, the T was for tandem drive.
Single drives-
LN 700 V8 petrol 5 speed 2 speed diff
LN 7000 3208 (175 HP)5 speed 2 speed diff
LN 900 V8 477 5 speed 2 speed diff
LN 8000 3208 (175/210 HP)5 speed 2 speed diff
LN 9000 903 Cummins 10 speed road ranger

Bogie Drives
LNT 900 477 V8 petrol 13 speed RR
LNT 8000 3208 (175/210 HP) 13 speed RR
LNT 9000 903 Cummins 15 speed RR,
about 1978 350 Cummins was an option, then about 1981 VT903 (903 was discontinued) and 9 speed, and 6V92 TA and 9 speed option as well.

Ozfury, the 1st one as I remembered I thought was a subbie for Classified Concrete, that orangy/red colour and manual steering, later ones all were power steering except the LN 700's and LN 7000's.
