The flat head Ford V8 was produced in the UK and as previously mentioned, fitted to the Pilot.
During production variations, from the parent North American product, were introduced. Many of the differences made parts non-interchangeable, between the two versions. Parts and engine numbers on the British made engines and parts, were suffixed with the letter E.

Thanks, I’d forgotten about those Fords, and hadn’t realised they were called Thames

Going by that info this is FP1 preserved and kept at Thirlmere. Right at the very front corner on the side there are small doors about 8" (200mm) square which are attached to a small handle on the inside. This is where the money change hands after you showed your ID to them inside.
Yes the driver did sit behind the engine which is almost the middle of the bus.

Not being a Ferd person but yes the grille, heaadlights and numerous bumper bars although shortened are from a Ferd from between 1932 - 1936. Even the Ferd V8 badges on the front are from the same era.

At the Lithgow Small Arms Factory which still produces fire arms for mainliy military. Saw a pic of these old trucks. We dont have much interest in guns but to see the old equipment used to manufacture was great. It has a large display of guns, rifles n rocket launchers.

Hi,

I was reading a Howard Register site recently and they are doing a tour of the Lithgow Small Arms Factory this weekend as the LSAF made some of the pieces of the Howard tractors/rotovators and they mentioned having the Howard pistol.

SMALL ARMS FACTORY MUSEUM - Sunday, 11th June 2023.

We will be venturing to Lithgow on Sunday the 11th of June 2023.
Meet outside the Small Arms Factory Museum at 9:30am.
It will be interesting to see the roll the factory played in association with Howard Rotavators.

The Small Arms Factory made components for Howard Machinery, and houses the only known pistols made by Howard.
.....All Welcome!.....
