Cobba's travels

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

The rear wheels on that photo of the car taken in 1907 look very much like the wheels Tone was trying to identify a few weeks ago.

It looks very much like an Overland maybe around 1914 model (they went to electric lights after that.)
P.S. Just found the original photo: Looks like the Europeans persisted with gas lighting long after the Americans had gone electric.
Notes: On back of photo mount: Souvenir of our trip to Jenolan Caves 1930.
Vehicle: Belgian Fabrique Nationale 1918
Front: Driver in dust coat, Mrs Cubitt
Rear: Miss May Cubitt, Mr Quincey Adams of Dubbo, Master Cubitt

Fabrique Nationale de Belge (or Belgique) were known as FN. These letters were on the hubcaps and on the radiator, which had their emblem of two crossed rifles. Many allied Armies used the FN SLR (Self Loading Rifle) of 7.62 mm bore in and around the 1960's. It was a big improvement over the World War 11 era 303. (That's probably a 30.30 to you Brocky)

We ate in Wagga Wagga until tomorrow so went to tge RAAF museum. Found some old images of a Thorneycroft fire truck. Then after lunch found this beautiful David Brown VAK1VAK1 with original motometer, gear driven generator n magneto ignition.

Cobba, that VAK1A is the same as the one in my front garden that the timing gears and big end bolts that are now in your tractor are from, along with the "horse collar" shroud now fitted to Chris Garret's Cropmaster.

Good on you Cobbadog and Cobbarette, enjoying yourselves while you can.
That Thornycroft fire tender is the same as one I had. That is the foam cannon, I also had the water tanker that followed to replenish the foam cannon. That one had done less than 200 hours.
Mine were ready for restoration and after advertising them widely, had to sell them for a lot less than scrap value but at least I did not have to take them to the scrap dealer and I no longer had to pay storage for them. Such is lffe.
